Winding Down

As you know, I live In a dorm at MSU. GO STATE! =/ & it’s almost time to go home!! I’m down to my last two bars of soap! I`m so glad. I miss my old life back home in Detroit. Plus, I get to be with my mommy. This is gonna be a short blog because I have a lot of work to get done. I`m putting in extra hours at work, before I leave. I also have to study for finals. This math final is gonna kill me! Site-wise, I can’t get it where I want it to be. I have no readers or anything. I only get comments when I comment on someone else’s and sometimes I don’t even get that. IDK, any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I`m not going to prom anymore! Whew! & I got a new phone & a new iPod!

Just Catching Up. It’s been a long 2 weeks.

March 26, 2009   Filed Under: Uncategorized   1047 words

So, since the last APA probate, I’ve been to two more. I told you guys I’d post pics… I did! Nephew, the Alpha, has a younger brother, Rashid and his probate was last week. But he isn’t an Alpha. He is a brotha of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. I thought Harun’s probate, but Rashid’s was 10x hyper than his. I was so proud & excited again! Then Rashid has his own solo part. I want to show the video, but when I put it on Youtube, his Regional District Manager or whomever he is asked them to have people take them down. It’s dumb if you ask me because there is thousands of sorority and fraternity probates on youtube… whatever. I went to another Phi Beta Sigma probate (maybe I’m addticted) here at MSU, but it was no where near as good as the one at U of M.

Anyway, I have been working on my site’s theme. Not bad for only having the site up for a month, right? I really appreciate you guys & your feedback. I may not get back to your comment as soon as you send it, but I really have been doing my best to get back to them as soon as possible. I wanted this footer with widgets in it sooooo bad, but I didn’t know how to do it. I finally figured it out. YAY. I’m really learning this wordpress stuff. Everything is going well with it, too. Tell me what you think.

OHMYGOODNESS, the craziest thing happened: I’m a student supervison trainee in the Cafeteria at my dorm. I getdirty looks all the time from the students that work under me because we all began working at the same time, but I got the promotion. So one day My girls & I were in the cafe, and we were talking about hand games we used to play so one game was:

I woke up Saturday morning,
I looked up on the wall
I saw a bunch of cockroaches
Playing basketball…

Meanwhile my next door neighboor (in my dorm) was working and wiping the tables around us.
The conversation went as follows: ( not paying any attention to her)
Jai: “Have y`all ever seen a white roach? I saw one before?”
Nana: “Yeah that’s the queen roach so when you see her you better move out!”
The whole table: (cracking up)
LATER ON THAT DAY, my RA approaches me like, “is there something wrong with you guys & them? because Marcelina said that you called her a white cockroach today.”

WHAT? WTF? I couldn’t do anything but laugh. Like why was she listening so hard? Insecurities are a trip.
What type of insult is that? Really? I just left it alone. & even if I did… Who actually tells? How old are we?

I’m going on a cruise in June & so I had to get a passort for Jamaica & the Cayman Islands. So when I went home last weekend I went to get one.
Day 1; Arrived at the post office, but I was too late because they don’t process passports after 4pm.
okay cool.
Day 2; Get to the front of the line & the man with a nasty attitude tells me that he’s not gonna process me because he’s the only person there. So, I go out to the car steaming & mom goes in with me. The man must’ve seen my mom on the way because 3 more workers magically appeared. We get back to the front and a woman says she’ll process me. Then she asks if I had my two passport pictures. I tell her no because it says I can get them here, She claims that the photo machine is broken so we run to CVS (its 3:10pm) and I get my picture taken, but it doesn’t show on the computer.

We go through this for 30 more minutes until I ask if I could take a look at it. The photographer wasn’t saving the pics to the Memory Card. SMH. So finally I get my prints and I race back to the post office. Another woman is at the window & thinks i;m trying to scam her. Then luckily, the previous woman let her know I was here before so she begins to process me again. Now it’s payment time. She asks how am I going topay & I tell her my card. She tells me I can’t pay with my card so I go all the way back to Detroit & get a money order for the $100 fee and takes it back to her. She tells me that I have to get a 75 dollar and 25 dollar money order so I have to go all the way back to Detroit because I have to get back to where I came to get the money order corrected. I take it back, and finally I get processed. It Took 6 hours.
Have you ever beenon a cruise? How was it?

Now, since I’m going to Prom again, I have to find a dress, too.
I’m coming down with something, but I told myself that I needed to blog more because I don’t even think you guys would want to read all of this!
Let me know how you feel about long blogs

I Never Been So Proud Of Him in my Life…

March 12, 2009   Filed Under: Uncategorized   657 words

A few days ago, my nephew (he was double promoted) called me & told me that his Fraternity probate was this Tuesday at 10:06pm. I told him that I was going to be there if I had to walk, plus I was coming home for my spring break anyway. The only problem was transportation for me & Brandon*. & ever since Brandon totaled the Magnum, my mom will not let us drive anymore. So, we decided that were just gonna catch the bus up to Ann Arbor (because that’s where University of Michigan is). Done. When my momma got off work she made us go to Wal-Mart for some groceries, and when we were in there we saw Windsday*. She works in the Money center & told us that she was going & we were like WHAT? “Cool can we ride with you?” She was like “I’m gonna have a car full of people” Which we assumed that it would be the rest of her six children… but instead she said that she was bringing her husband (which is my nephew’s father), which we knew would be coming next… then she said she was gonna bring HIS father & we had to tell her like, “that ain’t right, YOU not even supposed to be there, you acting like this is some kind of graduation”. So she was acting like she wasn’t paying attention to us.

Fast Forward
Now, it’s Tuesday night & we get into the car, no grandfather in sight. Good. We meet up with some of my friends from high school & they take us to the place where the probate is. It was so cold outside. They asked everyone to be there at 10:06 since they fraternity started in 1906, BUT they didn’t start until like 10:40. Everyone is looking around trying to see where the guys that are on the line are coming from because the brothers were already in the front. As the wind pierced my skin like glass in a bathtub, I saw him. The boy I had been waiting for all night. Harun. He and his other line brothers came marching in like they had rehearsed. Chanting the history of the fraternity & rapping their introductions like all the brothers of the frat had done previously. I never been so proud of him in my life. Now when you see Haronnie (Harun), to us, he is the nerdiest, squarest dude in our family. He can’t dance or anything. I’m talking Dexter’s Laboratory type stuff. Just square. But that night, a whole new Harun emerged. He had several solo parts, but I wasn’t close enough to hear him until later on. Mind you we are still freezing… Then it started to snow. Which automatically meant that the temperature was below 32 degrees. The line brothers moved, we moved with them. I FINALLY GOT CLOSE. At the right time where they unmasked the line brothers. Of course I knew which one he was from jump (you always know blood when you see them). I could tell he was nervous by the pitch in his voice. When it was his turn he began, but one of the brothers stopped him because the crowd was still going crazy when they found out it was him. I know that messed him up. When he started back up, he messed up again. But nobody on the outside cared, we was just happy to see him. After he was done, the other brothers finshed & left as they had came. But just seein’ his mug face was enough for me. Again I was so proud of my nephew a new brother of the Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Incorporated .

“Zoom, Zoom, Zoom”

Are you in/thought about being in a fraternity/ sorrority? Why or Why not?
Could you take the hazing ( if there is any )?

This Is Me.

February 26, 2009   Filed Under: Uncategorized   203 words

Sitting at my desk, I tried to think of a million clever ways to introduce myself. I came up with the best way … the regular way. Welcome to my site.

I was born with the name Jazzmen, but affectionately called Jai & / or BX. Eighteen. Blessed with the talent of graphic design. Freshman in College. Living in Detroit, you know? [the city with the cheating mayor that got caught?] yeah. Although I planned on majoring in web design & graphic design, after my first semester in College… I’m no longer sure about that. I’m an Excelled Designer, check out our page Excelled Designs. I’m single & I really want to stay that way. My last boyfriend made me never want a relationship again. Unfortunately, I’m very outspoken, which is often mistaken as rude. Well, I guess it can be rude to be outspoken at times. For me to be so small [5’1], its crazy how I’m often called a bully, I don’t see how, but, hey!

I have so many aspirations for this site. I just hope that I can get feedback. If you have any tips, let me in on them… It is my first site after all.
